Genie Community Payment Terms
Effective September 15, 2026
Genie helps you get things done together, including paying someone back, contributing toward a shared purchase, and arranging bookings. These Payment Terms explain who handles the money, which transaction terms apply, and where to turn when something needs attention.
These Payment Terms are part of your agreement with Genie Travel, Inc. under our Terms of Service (the Terms). The Terms' definitions and eligibility rules apply. They cover the payment features you use, including user-to-user payments and pooled purchases through third-party services. The Terms' consumer-market rules in Section 9 and legally required payment rights continue to apply.
1. Your assistant, not the transaction counterparty
Genie facilitates transactions as your assistant and agent. It is not the buyer, seller, reseller, or merchant of record for any underlying transaction it facilitates. Your purchase is with the supplier; a payment to another user is between the relevant participants and their payment providers. Those parties' respective terms and responsibilities apply.
Third-party services process and settle payments. Pooling under these Payment Terms takes place through third-party services and their account arrangements, not a Genie-operated wallet or escrow account. A pool balance displayed in Genie describes that external arrangement; it is not a deposit with Genie or a balance Genie independently guarantees. Genie does not insure contributions, guarantee settlement or delivery, or make up money a supplier, participant, or provider fails to return.
Charges for Genie's own Products remain separate and are governed by Terms Section 4.1 and applicable store or billing-provider terms. These Payment Terms do not transfer Genie's own service obligations to a third party.
2. The terms behind each transaction
The supplier's, recipient's, organizer's, and payment provider's applicable terms govern their respective parts of a transaction. You are responsible for finding, reading, and complying with those terms, including prices, eligibility, fees, payment protections, deadlines, cancellation, refunds, and other restrictions. Genie may accept applicable third-party terms for you under the authority described in Terms Section 4.2.
We try our best to highlight details likely to matter, but can't know everything you would want brought to your attention or promise to identify, summarize, or explain every condition. Please read the full terms and check anything important to you with the relevant provider. Our summaries do not replace or change those terms; not mentioning a condition does not waive it. Required disclosures and legally binding information still apply.
Genie does not independently warrant third-party terms, descriptions, eligibility decisions, or performance. The Terms govern responsibility for Genie's own summaries and Actions.
3. Letting Genie arrange payments
The Action authority in Terms Section 4.2 includes sending payment requests, arranging transfers, coordinating contributions, making pooled purchases, and requesting cancellations or refunds through enabled services. Genie may take Actions it determines are responsive to your Inputs without asking for separate approval each time. You appoint Genie to transmit relevant information and payment instructions and accept applicable commitments on your behalf. They bind you as if you entered them directly.
Please use only accounts, payment methods, credentials, and funds you have authority to use. Provider requirements, including verification and any additional payment authorization, must also be satisfied. Your instructions do not authorize spending another person's money without their authority. Joining a chat, receiving a request, or being named in a pool does not itself authorize a charge.
Use settings and instructions to guide Genie, and review important Actions. Authority can be standing and revoked going forward through available controls or by contacting us. Revocation does not undo committed transactions; separate provider authorizations may need to be canceled with that provider. Required authentication and source restrictions remain applicable. Settings, confirmations, and other safeguards do not guarantee correct execution.
4. Paying and requesting payment from other people
Please check the recipient, amount, currency, purpose, and payment method. A familiar name or profile is not a guarantee of identity or trustworthiness. Transfers may be difficult or impossible to recover once sent, subject to applicable rights and provider processes. Please check which purchase or transfer protections the provider actually offers rather than assuming every payment has the same protection.
A payment request or reminder is not proof that a debt exists or that someone has agreed to pay. Participants remain responsible for their own agreements, valid payment obligations, and taxes. Genie does not guarantee contributions, repayment, collection, or another participant's honesty. Keep requests accurate and respectful; do not use them to harass someone or bypass a block.
5. Pooling funds for a shared purchase
Pooling can involve collecting contributions through an external service or into an account maintained there by a designated participant. Before contributing, please check who controls the account, who will make the purchase, the purpose and contribution amounts, spending authority, any funding deadline, and what happens to unused money or refunds. An external account's ownership, access, withdrawal, and protection rules come from that arrangement, not from the label "pool" in Genie.
By contributing or authorizing a contribution, you agree to the disclosed pool arrangement and the authority you give for its use. You may authorize an organizer to direct pool-related Actions on your behalf. An organizer must have that authority; being a group administrator alone does not supply it. Anyone controlling contributions must use them for the agreed purpose and account for or return amounts owed under the participants' arrangement and applicable law.
Pledges, pending transfers, and displayed totals may not be available funds. A funding target does not itself reserve a purchase or guarantee that it will happen. The agreed arrangement and provider rules determine whether to proceed, change plans, or return contributions if funding falls short. Genie does not advance missing funds or cover another person's share. If you undertake a purchase or agree to cover a shortfall, others' failure to contribute does not transfer that obligation to Genie.
A contribution transfer and the eventual supplier purchase are separate transactions. Canceling one does not automatically reverse the other. A supplier refund may return to the original payer or funding account rather than directly to each contributor. Participants must arrange any redistribution or return of unused funds through the relevant provider and their agreement. Genie can help coordinate those steps, but does not guarantee recovery, timing, each participant's share, or another person's compliance. Leaving a group or closing Genie does not cancel an external pool or its commitments.
6. Prices, charges, and payment status
You are responsible for amounts payable under applicable transaction terms and the Terms' allocation of Action consequences, including lawful taxes, provider fees, currency-conversion charges, cancellation or no-show charges, and other commitments. Genie's estimates are not guaranteed prices or exchange rates. Required total-price and fee disclosures still apply. Any separate Genie fee must be disclosed as required before it is incurred; third-party transaction amounts are not fees paid for Genie itself.
A request, authorization hold, completed payment, and confirmed booking are different stages. Providers may decline, delay, limit, review, or reverse payments under their terms and applicable law. Available features, amounts, currencies, and timing depend on those services. Genie's summaries and records may be incomplete, delayed, or wrong; check the provider's confirmations and statements before relying on them or sending a replacement payment.
Free promotional credits follow their disclosed rules and Terms Section 4.7. They are not pooled cash. Purchased value and refunds owed to you remain subject to their applicable terms and legal protections.
7. Helping with cancellations and refunds
We try to help with cancellations and refunds, including contacting providers and following up on your behalf, but can't promise a request will succeed or that money will be returned by a particular time. Genie is your assistant in that process, not the supplier, recipient, or payment provider deciding or carrying out the response. Applicable transaction terms and law determine cancellation rights, charges, refund amounts, and payment routes.
Please check provider deadlines and confirmation of the result. Telling Genie you want to cancel is not, by itself, confirmation that a provider has accepted the cancellation. Canceling Genie, disconnecting an account, removing a payment method, or leaving a group does not itself cancel a separate purchase, recurring payment, or pool arrangement.
We try to help with mistakes, but can't take on a contractual duty to investigate, correct, reverse, remediate, or reimburse every one. Subject to Terms Sections 7.7 and 9, we do not guarantee recovery or reimburse you merely because a provider or participant refuses or fails to perform. Help we provide creates no continuing obligation or additional liability. Genie's own charges and any required repayments remain governed by the Terms, including Section 9; this assistance language does not displace those duties.
8. When a payment does not look right
Please contact hi@geniegetsme.com with what happened and any date, amount, or transaction reference you have. Do not send passwords or full payment-card details. You can also contact the supplier, recipient, payment provider, or your bank directly. You do not have to finish Genie's help process before exercising payment-dispute rights, and it does not extend provider or legal deadlines.
Please raise concerns honestly. Do not knowingly make false payment claims, seek duplicate reimbursement, misuse contributions, or use payment tools for fraud or unlawful transactions. A good-faith dispute is not misconduct merely because it is unsuccessful. Any recovery of costs, indemnity, or set-off follows the Terms, including their applicable regional limits; these Payment Terms add no automatic chargeback or investigation penalty.
Genie may limit, delay, refuse, or stop payment-related Actions under the Terms, including for suspected fraud, misuse, security concerns, or provider restrictions. That does not guarantee prevention of every problem or release of money controlled by someone else. Information exchanged to arrange payments and pooled purchases remains governed by the Privacy Policy and source restrictions.
9. How these terms fit together
The Terms' AI-error acknowledgment applies to payments, pooled purchases, summaries, and cancellation or refund assistance, including errors despite accurate instructions and proper use. The Terms' liability limits, defense and indemnity provisions, and dispute procedures apply without creating a separate payment guarantee or liability cap. Transferred money and pool contributions do not increase the fees used to calculate the Terms' cap.
These Payment Terms supplement the Terms for the payment mechanics described here. They do not override the Terms' protected-review exception, Sections 7.7 and 9, the Privacy Policy's restrictions, or required payment authorizations, disclosures, error-resolution duties, refunds, chargebacks, and other non-waivable rights. Describing Genie as an assistant does not exclude duties that applicable law places on its actual activities. Third-party terms govern the underlying transaction, not Genie's separate obligations under its agreement with you.
